I've recently bought a refurbished Nextar X3-03 GPS not knowing the company has never released any map updates. After unlocking the unit (thanks to MioPocket 4.0) I found that the GPS is using IntelliNav v1.00.06 from Netropa. I have a Nextar X3-03. The maps are from 2007. It says on the back that it runs Windows CE Core 5.0. It works off of an SD card. This site offers updates for other Nextar models but not mine. I don't know what happened to Nextar. I couldn't find much online, except rumors that they had been bought by Tom Tom, which appears to be untrue. • I have had the Nextar 03-08 since last year. I have not had that problem. I think that it is the best gps out there. We have taken it on trips to Kanas City and New Orleans and it has been flawless. If you have been to New Orleans with their oneway streets and constant u turns you have to make, you will find out quickly how good your gbs works. I have never had your problem but if you called Nextar and it is out warrenty I hope that you bought it from Khol's Deptstore. They are usally pretty good about backing up their products. Best of luck in getting your problem fixed and if you do please answere back how you got it fixed.
• Nextar is junk!! Good Luck geting it replaced. they keep sending out so called refurbished units that don't work either.
• bdobson, I would like to know what issues you have with the nextar x3-08 gps. I can speak from first hand use that the x3-08 is one of the best gps for it's price. The only downside to this unit is that they have not supported with new updates. I own the nextar x3-08, nextar 43 LT and the TomTom xl335s. I bought all 3 for great price. After using all of them you will see that they have good and bad points. The 43Lt has a beatiful display and great sound. It is 4.3 display which makes it easier to read. It gives you free lifetime traffic updates and reality display which shows you the highway signs and which lane you should be in. These two items are diffently a plus. The TomTom also has reality view and IQ routes but you have to really learn how to use it. It came with lastest map quarntee and mapshare and I downloded the newest map and all the updates. The x3-08 and the 43Lt have 1.8 mil pois. The TomTom has 7 mil pois. The Tomtom does have churches and reststops and displays poi along the way. We are going to take a trip to Tunica Miss. to go to the casinos. The x3 and 43lt have all the casinos in the poi. The TomTom with 7 mil poi has only 4 casinos, go figure. If I had to use only one of them, I would use the x3-08. It picks up satilites fast on start, it recaculates fast. You can avoid roads and use stopovers very easy. When it tells you 500 ft that is the street you will turn on. It also gives you a ding sound. It is the only one that can tell you if your distination is on the left or right and not just you have arrived at your distination. I hope this helps in understanding the different gps. Like I said in the begining, they all have their good and bad points. It depends on what makes you happy. When I come back from my trip I might post again about how they all performed. I just wish that instead of just saying a unit is a piece of junk that you would state what you liked of disliked about it.
• biggest ptoblem is that they don't turn on after awhile. I statrted with the x3-08 it quit sent it back they sent an x3-02 it didn't work out of the box sent it babk they sent another x3-01 it worked once and quit they sent another x3-01 that worked a few weeks and and has since quit. When they don't work out of the box to me they are junk. I bought it because there was some features I liked but with then not working I might as well saved my money and bought a brand name unit. I know of 2 other people that bought the same unit and they also had the same issues. The other thing that I wasn't happy with is that they replace the unit with a so called refurbished unit but never the same model. I kept getting different models back. If the unit worked for you all I can say is good for you as the sure didn't work for me and after 4 units I just plain got tired of trying to get one that worked. I spent enough shipping these things back to buy a good one in the first place. After 4 units that didn't work you would call them junk too.
• My X3-08 memory chip is bad and Nextar does not have a copy of it. Can user joo11 help me if you still have the Nextar X3-08?
